Reminder
Andrew Bolduc taking over for Andy Samara while he is away in Montana. The first playing session has come to an end! Hope it is going well for you. Let me know if there is anything you would change/if you would like to bow out of the ladder. If you are frustrated with easy matches or too tough matches, remember the bracket was originally made based on order of sign-up. It will take a few weeks for everyone to be in a spot where they are having regularly even/tough matches. The ultimate goal is to have fun with an accessible resource to play matches with opponents that will push us to play more and get better. A tiered ladder system with a relegation/promotion system is in the several year plan as our numbers grow. Best of luck these next few weeks!

Thanks for participating in the ladder. We have 18 guys thus far, and will continue to add to it as we go. The goal is to have 20 or more by the end of the year and make it a yearly competition ( we are looking for 4.0 players and up). Below is the format we'll start with and make amendments to if they are necessary.
Format:
- Matches can be played at anytime or place. Bring a can of balls.
- Best 2/3 sets with full third or 2/3 sets with a 10 pt match breaker are the two acceptable challenge match formats. Match breakers should really only be played when there is a time constraint.
- Each player must play a minimum of 1 match every two weeks. If you don't play a match at the end of a two week period you will be moved to the bottom of the ladder unless it's a planned absence (travel, injury, etc...). In this case you'll move down 3 spots at the end of the two week period. Email the ladder to let them know you'll be gone.
- Match scores need to be reported to vttennisladder@gmail.com before you play your next match so the ladder can be adjusted accordingly.
- 14th - 5th can challenge 3 places in front of them, 4th - 1st can challenge 2 places up in the ladder.
- If you win a match you will move into your opponents spot, or maintain your position. If you lose a match you will move down to your opponents position.
- The ladder ends Sunday, August 19th (matches can be played on the 19th). The top 6 players make the playoffs with the 1 and 2 getting byes in to the semifinals.
-You are welcome to play anyone on the ladder anytime, matches won't count that are outside the rules.
Anything I'm leaving out?
Check in on the blog before you get in touch with someone for a challenge match. I will keep the ladder updated on the "Standings" page. Also, I'm fairly sure I don't need to mention this...but the goal of this is to have fun within an organized structure that promotes competitive play. Be competitive, but no need to be McEnroe out there. Also, do your best to be aware of challenging the same player too many times and/or turning down matches with the intent of maintaining your position.
Thanks again!
